Discover what's holding you back from your goals

Our Freedive Performance Testing Lab, the first of its kind in freediving, evaluates your mental and physical limitations, abilities, and performance, identifying the most effective training methods for rapid improvement.

Test

Measuring your unique response to targeted exercises, we will test your freediving fitness against data collected from working with over 100 athletes through personalised coaching and training.

Report

Uncovering insights into your strengths, weaknesses, and what might be negatively impacting your progress. You will receive a detailed yet easy-to-understand report with training recommendations.

Programme

Providing targeted dynamic apnea exercises, with training volume, recovery, and distance adjusted to your needs, to help improve your problem areas, and empower you to move confidently towards your goals.

The Test - Measuring Your Urge To Breathe

Using targeted exercises, we measure the specific way(s) that your unique physiology responds to the urge to breathe in specific and controlled situations so that we can gain a deeper understanding of your overall freedive fitness. Understanding a diver’s reaction to the urge to breathe can reveal almost everything we need to know about their stamina, conditioning, hypoxic tolerance, strengths, and weaknesses.

Comfort Zone

We test the onset of the urge to breathe (first contraction / end of comfort zone) in various settings, such as long dives, 50-metre repetitions, and 25-metre repetitions.

Threshold

Testing on 25m or 50m repetitions (depending on your abilities), we look at where your urge to breathe begins to build up at an unsustainable rate, meaning you begin to fatigue or lose efficiency.

Maximum Capacity

Finally, we test your maximum urge to breathe capacity on 25m or 50m repetitions (depending on your abilities), which indicates the point where the urge to breathe becomes too great to continue.

Insights

Finding out when these markers occur and the relationship between the three gives us a lot of insight into what type of training you need to work on, whether that’s developing a bigger comfort zone, improving your capacity to manage the urge to breathe, or raising your upper limits.

Stop guessing and repeating the same mistakes over and over. Start seeing measurable performance improvements.

Even if you’re limited by Hypoxia (O2), lactic acid, stamina, mental motivation, or control, the answer to ‘why’ those things are happening and what you need to do about it lies in your urge to breathe response.
When you fix your weaknesses, your performance will improve. It's that simple.

Less guesswork

Understanding your freediving strengths and weaknesses can help you make smarter training decisions and better monitor long-term progress. You will receive a personalised testing protocol with simple exercises to measure key freedive fitness markers, with the results informing our training recommendations.

More targeted

These markers can help identify areas of your freedive fitness that need improvement in your training, allowing you to see measurable improvements in quality, distance, or both. Using years of experience, we make incredibly accurate predictions of what a diver will need to work on and how they will need to do it.

Backed by data

Our detailed freedive fitness performance reports will be based on both objective outcomes (distances and times) and subjective ones (feelings and sensations), compared against data from over 100 athletes we have coached for periods ranging from 3 months to 2 years, to create a comprehensive ‘profile’ of your fitness.

Optimised training

Guided by your personalised report, you will gain a deeper understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, and learn the necessary adaptations to make for noticeable improvement. Helping you to prepare in the best possible way for your next personal best performance, and enhancing your overall comfort and enjoyment for whatever diving you choose to do.
